The Great Divide Between Digital and Classic Photography

Digital photography may well be regarded as one of the most innovative technologies of the twentieth century. It is cheaper than classic photography by at least 50%, while the quality remains equally high, if not higher. There is no need to add film, which also means wastage is reduced, and because you only print the photos you want, digital photography is both cost-effective and friendly to the environment. Among the best things about digital photography is that sharing of pictures is easy among people, wherever they are, provided they have an Internet-connected computer.

Photography in our Lives

Many people couldn’t resist the lure of photography, whether as a hobby or a full-time job. It has come a long way since it was first invented, and it has been consistently popular through the years. In fact, it’s only getting more and more popular, and it is even slowly replacing film photography, especially in the professional setting. Even for veteran photographers, the switch to digital comes with a significant learning curve.

The Digital Era

A digital camera is essentially a little computer. Digital pictures’ quality will differ from camera to camera, although it has generally increased through the years. Still, even with all the proof that opposite is true, some people think old-fashioned cameras are still better. If you’re shopping for a digital camera, remember that it’s not the cost of the camera nor its size that ultimately matters. You need something you can be happy to use, something that will churn out pictures you’re glad you took.

As opposed to film cameras, your digital camera’s storage media can be used over and over without requiring any extra cost. If you’ve ever used a traditional camera before, you know how frustrating it can be to be able to shoot only a few pictures in the film, and how you cannot delete any of the pictures once they’re taken. In other words, digital photography is an enhancement to photography as an art, a hobby or a career. The digital era has indeed brought in the most important changes in photography ever since it was invented.

In conclusion, digital and traditional photography complement each other. They own their own spots in the colored world of photography. Any skills that are useful in traditional photography will also be valuable in digital photography. It’s easy to see that both worlds are inevitably connected. When photographers do their best, they will make good work. Besides, photography is generally just a tool. It is the photographer on whom the quality of a picture ultimately lies. The photographer is the one who really creates the image.
